“Why can’t you just leave me alone for two minutes?” Cindi glared at her two younger sisters.
“We just wanted to know what you were doing.”
“I’m letting my nail polish dry and reading my magazine. Go away.”
The two small heads withdrew and she went back to her article. She turned the page carefully, making sure she didn’t smudge the polish. She picked up her glass of ice tea and then realized it was empty. Drat. She’d never get into the kitchen and back without messing up her fingernails. “Caeri? Cathy?” she called.
No one answered. She sighed and carefully put the magazine aside. “Those two are never around when I actually need them for something,” she grumbled as she went down the stairs.
