“Mr. Broyer wants to see you,” the receptionist said as Dani came in.
She was only ten minutes late. Dani’s mind whirled as she stashed her purse at her desk, grabbed paper and pen, and headed to the magazine’s executive suite. She’d been late three times in the last two weeks and had taken an extra long lunch a couple days ago. How did he know this stuff?
She stopped outside his open door, took a deep breath and straightened her shoulders. Just as she was about to knock, he stuck his head out. “Oh Dani, there you are,” he said with a smile. “Come in, come in. I have an assignment for you. One of the photo assistants isn’t going to be able to do the Bahamas shoot next month. This would be a good chance for you to get a feel for that side of things.”
