James wanted to know more. So he asked Jesus, “If as you say, each of us is one with God, then why do we have so little power? And how does God divide himself among us?”
Jesus laughed. “You are so serious. Were we not once happy as children?”
“And so serious?”
“Maybe not so serious.” James smiled.
“Yet we had the power of joy,” Jesus said, “and inward healing. Now we have only reason.”
“I hadn’t thought of that,” James said.
“Do you remember the way the lilies covered a field, and yet they were all the same? There were thousands of them at once. Not one upheld the other, but all were upheld together.”
“Yes I remember.”
“Couldn’t it be said that God was expressed among the whole?”
“And yet wholly within each one.”
“What is possible for God is possible in all things.”
